Just last month, hundreds of New Yorkers attended a “Think Israel” conference in Manhattan. The meeting was held by the Jewish Agency and Nefesh B’Nefesh.

NBN’s primary goal, according to their website, is to “revitalize Aliyah (moving to Israel) and to substantially increase the number of future Olim by removing the professional, logistical and financial obstacles that prevent many individuals from actualizing their dreams.

Last month’s event was aimed at Jewish students and young professionals. It addressed jobs and job markets in Israel, social justice, higher education, Israel engagement and careers, all while offering an opportunity to win a free flight to Israel. According to the organization, many Jews are reluctant to consider the move because of its apparent complexity and potential difficulties. These seminars, run by Nefesh B’Nefesh staff, allow potential immigrants to ask questions and to get information that will help them to make decisions about their future.

The meetings also featured a tweetup focused on “Challenges in Online Israel Advocacy,” as well as a webinar that focused on Nefesh B’Nefesh’s Go North program and their Negev & Galil Development Project. Working alongside the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael, these programs strives to encourage immigrants to populate Israel’s periphery.
