New York Nets Ad Campaign Teases New Yorkers

The excitement is mounting as New York prepares to welcome its newest professional ball team, as they make their transition from the Jersey Nets to the New York Nets. An intense ad campaign has been brewing, stirring up interest until the actual logo is officially announced, due to take place on April 30. Until that moment New Yorkers will have to be satisfied with the site of a mysterious ad campaign, which viewers can only guess is a hint of the logo to come.

On view, and plastered all over town, is a white outline of a shield on a black background, with what looks like a tweet below, reading “#HELLOBROOKLYN.” We are supposing that the poster is an invitation to search the internet and hopefully buy season tickets.

Jay-Z, who is a part-owner of the Nets, is helping with the design of the new uniforms and logo in coordination with Adidas and team head-honchos. We already know that Jay-Z has a thing for black from his work as co-founder of the hip clothing outlet Rocawear, so we are expecting black; but what other colors we can expect remains a mystery.

Officials have already said that “the logo will feature Brooklyn prominently because the club wants to tap into the borough’s world-popular brand name,” and that the chances that the present team colors, red, silver, white and navy blue, will be changed are high. Other than this small tidbit of a hint, we have no way to begin to guess what is in store. We’ll just have to hold out a few more days until the magic moment on April 30 arrives.
